Activities and LinksA wide range of activities and interests can be found on our doorstep. Scenic walks begin 100m from the Auld Kirk, ranging from a gentle stroll along the banks of the river Dee to an energetic climb up Craigendarroch Hill, or through the Pannanich forrest where deer, red squirrels and the elusive and now rare Capercaillie can be found. For those wishing to be a little more adventurous Balalter is surrounded by stunning peaks such as Lochnagar, beautiful forrests and sporting estates including Balmoral and Glen Tanar and of course lots of water. To assist in exploring this amazing part of Royal Deeside, mountain bikes, cannoes, fishing equipment etc are all available for hire in the village.
